This years picnic and meeting was well attended given the losses, complexities and disruptions of 2020.
Members from the Class of 1961 celebrated their 60th, while the 2020 elections delayed for President and Secretary officers were held.
President Morris Ververs (1962) and Secretary Nancy Hopson Allison (1962) were unanimously voted in for another term.
Tribute to past president, Loxie Ann Richardson (1964) was given by Treasurer Thelma Kochis McCann (1962), for Loxie’s dedication to starting the scholarship program.
Vice-President Nancy Manuwal Nicks (1965) shared the history and accomplishments of both the Recognition Award, then Scholarship program start.
Picnic attendees Robert ‘Joe’ Nichols (1961) and Kathy Esarey Drotar (1969), were recognized as being the first recipients of Recognition of Achievement by the association (Joe) and the first scholarship of $50 awarded (Kathy).
Thanks to generosity of our alumni and community supporters, we have awarded $63,700 in scholarships.
The catered lunch provided by Virginia Gordon McKnight (1976) and her partner, Lavonne Lazor, was delicious and a vote to continue with catered picnic was unanimously passed.
